Seaweeds or macroalgae live in the sea or in brackish water. They are multicellular macroscopic algae, attached to a substrate, that perform photosynthesis. They belong to the Red Algae (Rhodophyta), Brown Algae (Phaeophyta) or Green Algae (Chlorophyta).
During the second mass digitization project DOE!2, all macroalgae from the herbarium of Meise Botanic Garden were photographed. All label data was also entered by an external company, except for 1 field: the name under which the plant is stored in the herbarium.
