Officially, the country is called the Republic of Kenya. The country borders neighbouring Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan.
Kenya's flora is very characteristic of the flora of Southern Africa. Large parts of the country therefore consist of savannah landscape with low-growth vegetation such as shrubs, grasses and some tree species such as baobabs or baobab trees. Kenya's interior also features mountainous landscapes. Mount Kenya is Kenya's highest mountain and at 5199 metres, it is the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro.
Vegetation along the coast and around estuaries is much more tropical and diverse in Kenya than the plant life in the interior.
Kenya's national tree is the acacia.
