Seaweeds or macroalgae live in the sea or brackish water. They are multicellular macroscopic algae, attached to a substrate, that engage in photosynthesis. They belong to the Red Seaweeds (Rhodophyta), Brown Seaweeds (Phaeophyta) or Green Seaweeds (Chlorophyta).
During the second mass digitisation project DOE!2, all macroalgae from the herbarium of Botanic Garden Meise were photographed. All label data were also entered by an external company except for 1 field: the name under which the plant is kept in the herbarium. This species name can be found on the determination label with the most recent date and, if not present, on the original label. We still need this species name to unlock the collection on www.botanicalcollections.be Will you help?
