Liberia is unique in that it is one of the few countries in West Africa that still has a significant portion of its original tropical rainforest. More than 40 per cent of the remaining Upper Guinean Forest is located here. The flora is spectacular and dense, with valuable hardwood species such as Sipo and Mahogany. Besides the dense forests, you will find extensive mangrove forests along the coastline, which are essential for coastal protection and provide a unique habitat for specialised plant species.
