The plants of Namibia (01)
Namibia is a land of extreme drought where flora has adapted spectacularly to survive. Vegetation ranges from the iconic Welwitschia mirabilis and camouflage-like living stones in the Namib Desert to the distinctive Koker trees in the south and robust acacias on the savannahs. While the arid landscape is dominated by ingenious survivors that draw moisture from sea mist or store water in thick trunks, the wetter Zambezi region in the north provides space for lush flora such as the majestic Baobab.
