Maleae (I)
This group, belonging to the Rosaceae family, mainly contains plants with economically important fruits such as eg. apples. Some of them are also grown for their ornamental beauty. The group consists mainly of shrubs and trees and contains 1.000 species.
These plants are mainly found in temperate climates in the Northern Hemisphere. They are characterized by a pome fruit, a false fruit not found in other Rosaceae plants.
