A lot of specimens from the Meise Botanic Garden herbarium have passed through DoeDat over the years, mainly from the focused collections from Belgium and from Central Africa. The Meise herbarium contains specimens from other regions as well, of course, and in this project we focus on specimens collected in Germany. Knowledge of the German language and of Germany's geography will be a boon, in particular for identifying the specimen's gathering locality on Google Maps, but is not a requirement.
This transcription project is featured as part of the Horizon Europe-funded TETTRIs project (https://tettris.eu/), which aims to improve the capacity for taxonomic research and expertise in Europe. Similar projects like this one are launched on the French and German citizen science platforms Les Herbonautes (http://lesherbonautes.mnhn.fr/) and Die Herbonauten (https://www.herbonauten.de/) respectively.
