Texture Kortrijk

Texture is an accredited museum that explores the flax and linen industry in South West Flanders as the backdrop to a compelling narrative of bold entrepreneurship and pioneering craftsmanship, particularly in the field of textiles. This story is deeply rooted in innovation, adaptability, and continuous reinvention.

For centuries, the cultivation of flax and the production of linen textiles were linked to the river Lys, which was dubbed the ‘golden river’ for its significant role in the industry. Flax cultivation and processing caused the region to flourish, leaving a lasting impact that is still felt today. Texture preserves this historical narrative and links it to modern themes such as the pursuit of sustainable textile production.
